Ongoing Events: 

Weekly Online Tournament (WOT):

Every Monday Night from 8-9pm we host an online tournament on chess.com! Keep an eye out for a variety of different formats including Fischer Random (Chess960), Bullet and special openings! 

Daily Boards:

As a staple of the Chess Club, the Daily Boards (and Xiangqi) are located between the Robert Webster Building and the Quadrangle. They will be out every week, Monday to Fridays from 10am-5pm (weather permitting). Message in #looking-for-game in our discord to find any players nearby looking for a game!

Weekly Puzzles:

Every Monday, a fun puzzle is released on instagram as a poll. Have fun and interact with them!!

Upcoming Term 3 Events: 

Shogi Beginner Workshop (Wk 1, Tuesday, September 15):

If you weren't able to attend the previous Shogi workshop, or are looking to learn/practice this game further, then come up to Mathews 214 at 2pm! Taught by Brian — a experienced veteran with rankings in Top 25 Australia on 81dojo!

Blitzfriending (Wk 1, Friday, September 18): 

For our last Blitzfriending of the year, we are hosting it in the roundhouse, with food provided! Come from 1pm-4:30pm to meet some new people, play some more chess, and enjoy food!

Annual General Meeting (Wk 2, Monday, September 21):

Do you want to run for executive positions? Or just see how the club is run and the team behind them? Or vote for us! Then come to Mathews 102 from 2pm-4pm!

Sydney Challenge Scramble (Wk 6, TBD):

A cluster of challenges all around Sydney, with chess-related themes (in collaboration with a lot of other societies!). Stay updated on our socials for more details!

FIDE RAPID Tournament (TBD):

An official tournament will be held on a weekend sometime around Wks 5-7. Whether you are new to chess or a seasoned competitive player, come and play in this official FIDE rated tournament! Stay tuned on our socials for more details. 

Stress Less Week (Wk 8, TBD):

The classic Wk 8 event is back, and as we all know, chess goes with stress less! Will be at the quadrangle from Tuesday-Thursday. 

End of Term 3 Tournament (Wk 12, Date TBD):

Compete in the esteemed tri-annual traditional event and win up to $150! The tournament will be 9 rounds, in a Swiss format, with a nicely paced 5|3 time control.

Date: TBD, likely mid-December after exams.
