From thrilling simultaneous exhibitions, brain-teasing chess puzzles, weekly online tournaments to our esteemed End-Of-Term tournaments, there's always something exciting happening. Term 1 2026

Ongoing Events:

Weekly Online Tournament (WOT):

Every Monday Night from 8-9pm we host an online tournament on chess.com! Keep an eye out for a variety of different formats including Fischer Random (Chess960), Bullet and special openings!

Daily Boards:

As a staple of the Chess Club, the Daily Boards (and Xiangqi) are located between the Robert Webster Building and the Quadrangle. They will be out every week, Monday to Fridays from 10am-5pm (weather permitting). Message in #looking-for-game in our discord to find any players nearby looking for a game!

Upcoming Term 1 Events:

End of Term 1 Tournament

Compete in the esteemed tri-annual traditional event and win up to $150! The tournament will be 9 rounds, in a Swiss format, with a nicely paced 5|3 time control.

Date: 15th of May (Friday) 12:30pm-4pm, (First Friday after Exams).

Come visit our stall during O-Day! Whether you are a new prospective student or a previous member, come collect some freebies or play some chess! Find out what events we have planned as well.

Term 2 Discovery Fest:

Come discover what our club has to offer for this year! Similar to O-week but with another diverse range of clubs!

End of Term 2 Tournament

Compete in the esteemed tri-annual traditional event and win up to $200! The tournament will be 9 rounds, in a Swiss format, with a nicely paced 5|3 time control.

Date: TBD, likely late August/early September depending on exam block.
